The iKapa Dance Training and Outreach School currently operates in the disadvantaged Western Cape communities of Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, Philippi and New Cross Roads.
With over 300 disadvantaged children attending dance classes three times a week in a safe, healthy, structured and creative environment between Mondays to Thursdays, after School (3pm and 6pm) iKapa Dance Theatre is on a search for 300 Child Sponsors.
If you can afford 100 ZAR / 10 British Pounds / 10 Euros / 10 US Dollars per month you can become a child sponsor and make a huge difference to the struggling communities of South Africa.
It is am amazing contribution to make to a very well deserving and disadvantaged child who needs our help.
Our students use the dance classes and all the additional activities and resources iKapa Dance provides to them to develop themselves, improve their chances of a happy and healthy childhood and possibly even open a career path for their future.
WHY DO WE TEACH THEM DANCE?: Extra-curricular activities create a space where learners can experience a greater sense of purpose. The classes provide life-skills, such as teamwork, discipline and confidence. Talented learners can later join the Youth Dance company and possibly progress through iKapa’s apprenticeship program. The classes also provide a positive alternative to antisocial activities such as substance abuse, and enhance social and personal development.
The Training and Outreach school also provides numerous performance opportunities throughout the year. Students are invited to perform at festivals, and a variety of other performances, as well as in the bi-annual iKapa showcases.
iKapa provides its students with uniform, dance wear, transport, skilled and passionate teachers, inspiration, motivation, nutritional development, excursions, theatre trips and much more.
