Community Creative District in Gugulethu is a social tourism model that turns the community into a vibrant, productive creative hub of annual arts festivals, monthly craft and food markets and daily home gallery, tours that showcase what Gugulethu has to offer.
On the 29th and 30th November, local community members and tourists came out in their masses to experience the arts, culture and life and soul of the community. The event brought exhibitions and performances to homes and streets and offered a vibrant and energetic event where local artists and performers were able to showcase their talents.
Creative District, an ATi (Arts Township International) initiative, has already seen success in Kayamandi (Stellenbosch) and Soweto (JHB) and now Gugulethu (Cape Town).
The Gugulethu Creative District was proudly launched through partnerships with, Maboneng Township Arts Experience, iKapa Dance Theatre and Home Innovation Labs.
The Community Creative District promises more entertaining, fun and dynamic events in the future.
